Artistic inspiration came to Yasmin Bussiere late in life. She grew up in Chicago absorbing stories of her family’s cultural and political upheavals as they emigrated from Europe through Asia. Traveling to faraway places became a driving force and she found herself in France and in other countries working in various sectors. The journey extended to Central Asia, The Middle East, and Africa. She was particularly drawn to textiles, architecture, and ancient world panoramas. 

Upon returning to the States, Yasmin found expression through painting for those inspiring images. In 2016 her miniatures inspired by the Middle East were shown in an emerging artists exhibition in Charlottesville. A job opportunity came up soon after and she left for China. Upon returning and moving to Alexandria, she picked up her art again and started creating larger pieces. Yasmin’s solo show “Eastern Light, inspired by Central Asia last year at The Art League Gallery, Torpedo Factory along with group exhibitions, awards and public interest have helped her to continue this journey.
