Virginie Vandeputte

Virginie Vandeputte has nurtured a passion for drawing and painting since a very young age, turning what began as a dream into her professional ambition. She received classical training in painting at AKA Nijmegen (NL) under Lukas Stofferis and furthered her education with artists such as Jef Bertels (oil painting, BE), René Klarenbeek at the Rembrandt Studio and the Mauritshuis in The Hague (NL), and Jan Bustin, where she learned Van Eyck techniques.

At the age of 19, Virginie was accepted into the prestigious Florence Academy of Art (FAA) in Italy, where she specialized in the 19th-century academic methods of realistic drawing and painting. She graduated in June 2019 after three years of rigorous academic training.

In 2020, she expanded her expertise to stained glass, leaded glass, and restoration techniques under Jean-Marie Braguy at the Centre International du Vitrail in Chartres, France.

Virginie's strength lies in creating technically refined figurative work. Her precise application of drawing skills, and understanding of anatomy, scales, proportion, colour, and various perspectives showcases her mastery, which she attributes to her academic training in Florence.

All of her work—whether in painting, drawing, or stained glass—is created using ancient craftsmanship traditions. She prepares her own grounds, paints, and mediums, following recipes that date back from the early 1400s to the 19th century.
