Petra Landau
Biography:
I was born in August 1971 in Wiesbaden, Germany, where I currently reside with my family. Married with two grown-up children, my journey into abstract painting began over two decades ago as a self-taught artist. Initially experimenting with acrylics, oils, and various materials on canvas, I found abstract painting to be a therapeutic outlet for expressing and processing emotions.
The palette knife technique has become central to my artistic practice, allowing me to create texture and depth in my work. Over time, I've developed my own distinctive style, characterized by a blend of energetic spontaneity and moments of serene contemplation. Painting serves as a profound escape for me, providing a space where I can immerse myself fully in creativity and temporarily detach from the world around me.
In recent years, I've focused on creating large-format paintings that challenge my skills and expand my artistic vision. Many of these pieces now grace private and public collections, reflecting the evolution of my artistic journey. I deliberately refrain from titling my paintings, preferring to allow viewers the freedom to interpret and connect with the artworks based on their own emotions and thoughts.
