Artist Statement:
I stopped painting when I was 15 years old. I had not painted for decades. As an adult, I have taught myself to paint. Through painting, I am regaining what I lost in the past. It is a happy and joyful time. I am free, calm, and follow the inspiration of nature. The nature of Hokkaido gives life to my work. The truth I know after painting is the result of inspiration. And sometimes I paint emotionally. My paintings incorporate techniques from early childhood education. I draw curves and color them in. I use interesting color combinations that are balanced so that adjacent colors do not compete with each other.
When I color, the painting speaks on its own and various shapes emerge. There is always a fact to learn from the painting. Colorful and variously shaped parts represent "diversity," and the way colors are combined represents "coexistence" and "co-prosperity. Countless parts fit together perfectly to form a single world. I always feel a love beyond human comprehension. My paintings change with the viewer's sensitivity, state of mind, and time. I paint freely like a child, and the viewer is free to return to his or her childlike mind to imagine and enjoy. Parents and children, family and friends can talk about and understand each other's sensitivities. I create works that appeal to the viewer's thoughts and make them think in this way.
