Maryam Nass
Artist Biography:
Born and raised in Bahrain, Maryam Abdulla Nass received her bachelor’s degree from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. For Nass, art is a means of achieving internal peace and a silent medium for dialogue. Her artwork is characterized by simplicity, with light calming colors applied in heavy texture dominating her paintings. The wooden birds in her work symbolize the people who pass through our lives.
Some of her paintings are created without a plan or explanation, emerging spontaneously as she dares to descend into her inner self. She believes that "words are not always understood correctly and sometimes may even be misinterpreted, but through painting, one does not need to explain anything." Not all stories should be told; each painting becomes an extra page in her diary—a diary that does not use words, remaining unspoken and unvoiced.
