Luciana Grandi

Luciana Grandi is a Brazilian plastic artist and  lives near Munich in Germany for 20 years. Born in São Paulo in 1974, she has always participated in the artistic scene that develops in her hometown, having practiced art in several aspects of contemporary art, in themes that include nature and abstraction, also with influences from graffiti.

The fascination for vibrant or intensive colors and their combination is directly influenced by her artistic roots originating in São Paulo, a giant city that is an open-air art gallery. Since 2019, her art has been dedicated exclusively to portrait painting, having attended the Akademie der Bildenden Kunst Kolbemoor for a specialized course in this artistic category. Since then, she has dedicated herself to visually demonstrating the emotions brought about by the models in her artworks. The portraits made represent the tireless search for expression, and this search only ends after layers of acrylic paint that always have several of ready portraits, one on top of the other. A direct influence on her portraits are independent and arthouse movies, which are thought-provoking because of their authenticity and originality. Each portrait seeks, as in an arthouse film, to convey an authentic, intensive emotion, of which the artist was convinced.

This strong expression provides an interaction between the viewer and the portrayed person, providing feelings and sensations. The current Stunning Women series portrays women who, in the artist's view, are fabulous, not because of their flawless beauty, but because of the intensity and uniqueness of the people portrayed, in tirelessly chosen expressions. During the creation process, the started project is part of most of her thoughts, and is concerned with colors, the combination, the atmosphere and the intensification of expression, even when she is not in front of the canvas. The final result exists when it really satisfies the artist, who never tires of reaching her goal, in search of sometimes dramatic extreme expression and originality.
