Kristina Nordin-Wesenlund

Artist Biography:

Kristina Wesenlund-Nordin was born in 1967 in Sweden. The common thread in her life has always been creativity. She started painting figuratively on silk at an early age, followed by continuing her creative path with ceramics, painting, knitting, and sewing. It is during the last 10 years that her love for painting has particularly bloomed, and she has also recently started illustrating.

Kristina's narrative is very much her own, full of colors, exuberant playfulness, quirkiness, and with a deep love for nature. Her way of portraying humans and animals shows a lot of character, as she plays with their expressions in her very own personal way, always with a humoristic twist. She has been traveling and living in different parts of the world, which has influenced her work. She lived in France for a few years, traveled for months in South America where she made and sold jewelry, and has also studied in China.

The way Kristina paints is usually intuitive, rather than having a clear idea from the start of the result. Her absolutely favorite way of painting is with the very old technique called Putrido, a mixture of oil paint and egg tempera which gives the paintings a lovely depth and luster.

Kristina lives in the Stockholm archipelago with her husband, and of course, with their animals: two dogs and four cats. But that's not all; in her garden there are foxes, moose, badgers, deer, spiders, ants, and some mice too. She frequently exhibits her art at different galleries in Sweden.
