Jodi DeCrenza creates work that pulsates with the power of positivity. In her Hanstings-on Hudson, NY Studio, she enthusiastically explores emotions that energize her creativity. She employs kaleidoscope of radiant colors, inspired by the natural world. With a blend of spontaneous and intuitive brushstrokes, she creates pieces that live somewhere between impressionistic and abstract. She predominantly works with oil and acrylic pigments on stretched canvas. She looks at each piece as a visceral journey into soothing enigmatic, and fierce representations of landscapes and nature.

Decrenza’s intention is to create pieces that speak to the mind, body, and spirit. The artist is also a dedicated health and fitness professional, a passion and career that informs her artistic practice. Through her paintings, she aims to finds the bountiful beauty in every day and share her optimistic attitude about life with others. DeCrenza has found great purpose through painting. As such, she has entitled her body of work “My Soul’s Purpose.”

“I have a profound passion for expressing the mystery of the divine. Self-realized and deeply rooted in the emotional body, I explore my artistry with an uncanny mastery of the color wheel. I love to stand in front of my blank canvas where I begin with an idea and then allow my subconscious to take over; creating a composition different than what I originally intended. The visions that come to me change as my hands, paintbrushes, and the other tools that I paint with hit the canvas.

I am inspired by the colors I find in nature, as well as nature itself. I work with a bold color palette which is another way in which I express what I am feeling. What I express on canvas is deeply rooted in my soul. I believe that painting is my soul’s purpose.”
