Muspelheim or Muspelhem (from "muspilli," meaning 'world fire' or "Mund-spilli," meaning 'world destroyer') was, in Norse mythology, the world of fire in southern Ginnungagap. From there, sparks flew and created the sun, moon, and stars. In Muspelheim, the destructive powers of fire rule. The flaming fire creatures are also called 'Muspel's sons' (sons of fire) and are ruled by the fire giant Surt (the one black with soot). Surt possesses a shining sword whose blade is made of fire, and no weapon can match its power. From here, the destruction of the world by fire will proceed.
In Old Norse mythology, Loge (or Logi, "the flame") is a personification of the flame of fire in the myth where Thor and Loki visit the giant Utgårdaloke, who ruled over the fire. Loge competed with Loki to see who could eat the fastest. They both ate the food just as quickly, but when Loki only ate the meat, Loge, who symbolizes fire, won because he had also eaten both the meat, the bones, and the bowl from which they both ate.
Loge was the son of the thunder giant Fornjot and brother of the sea giant Ägir and the wind giant Kare.
