Bridie Keogh

Artists Biography:

Bridie's artistic journey kicked off at the prestigious Edinburgh College of Art, where she specialized in Fine Art Sculpture. She was selected for the RSA New Contemporaries Award Exhibition in 2013. After university, she ventured into the demanding world of visual effects, immersing herself in a career in VFX production and diverting her attention away from her art practice. This period marked a creative intermission that contributed to the evolution of her artistic vision.

Amid the chaos of 2020, Bridie found solace in the brush, turning to painting for meditation. It was during this period of change and uncertainty that Bridie rediscovered the joy of creativity, this time through the medium of painting. What began as a therapeutic escape became a profound exploration of abstract art.

Her art revival unfolded through abstract painting, serving as a means of interpreting the chaos and transitions in life. In this exploration, she uncovered the meditative effects of painting. What emerged was a unique process; using the medium of paint and enamel plates, Bridie developed a fascination for the way paint interacts with smooth surfaces. It's a journey where she explores the marriage of traditional and non-traditional materials, resulting in statement artworks that carry a unique style and creativity.

Bridie hopes the gems hidden within the complexities of the marks, the colors, and the details help viewers get transported into the present, offering respite and transcending thought, simply being.
