Avril Haubrich
Avril Haubrich’s art is deeply inspired by her rich life experiences. Before becoming a professional artist, she enjoyed a successful executive career, during which she lived in four countries and traveled extensively, eventually visiting all seven continents. These journeys continue to shape her creative vision, fueling her lifelong passion for exploring the world.
When starting a new painting, Avril often draws from vivid memories of places she has visited or from imagined scenes. She is especially captivated by nature, with a particular fascination for the sea—both its beauty and its power. Her water-themed works, inspired by her travels to Antarctica, reflect the contrasts between tranquil seas and the turbulent waters of the Drake Passage.
Avril’s process is intuitive and evolving. While she may begin with a specific direction, unexpected color combinations or techniques often lead her work to surprising outcomes—moments she refers to as “happy accidents.” She also experiments with unconventional materials like bronzing powder and marble dust, blending these with brushwork and palette knife techniques to create vibrant textures and depth in her paintings.
