Audrey Messas

Audrey Messas is a French-Israeli mixed media artist of Moroccan heritage. She resides in Tel Aviv and operates at the intersection of visual art and embodiment practices.

In addition to being an accomplished eye surgeon, Audrey offers a unique perspective. Her art predominantly consists of paintings, alongside photography and three-dimensional collages.

Audrey studied abstract painting at the Artist’s House in Tel Aviv and Zen calligraphy at the Mountain and River Monastery in New York. Over the past 25 years, she has explored consciousness across Europe, Israel, and the USA. Currently, Audrey continues to refine her skills at the esteemed Hakolel Studio for Contemporary Art in Tel Aviv.

"As a mixed media visual artist, eye surgeon, and multicultural mystic, Audrey Messas delves into existential personal questions. Her evolving work addresses urgent collective issues such as ecological collapse. She employs photography, paint, ink, and textiles. During her process, she captures, glues, and stitches, but primarily paints—alternating between acrylic and oil, as well as between the expressive and the abstract.

Audrey's creative process is rooted in awareness, with each painting taking her on a voyage beyond concepts and references. She extensively experiments with different techniques until the process leads to refined works that encapsulate both form and profound resonance. Her aspiration is for her art to evoke an evolved vision of the world and serve as an invocation for our future."
