Ania Lucid

Ania Lucid, a Polish-born artist and mother, began her creative journey in photography after graduating from Lodz Film School. For much of her career, she focused on themes of femininity, motherhood, and sexuality. In recent years, however, her practice has shifted toward textiles, driven by her personal experience as a mother and the challenges of raising a child with a disability.

Lucid’s textile work serves as both a meditative practice and a way to process trauma. Her pieces often explore the duality of motherhood, depicting nurturing goddesses that embody both exhaustion and strength. Through slow, deliberate embroidery, Lucid pays tribute to the art form’s feminine heritage, connecting with the creative expressions of women throughout history. In merging photography and textiles, she creates a powerful dialogue between tradition and modernity, crafting new narratives that honor the complexity of womanhood.
