Adriana Puppi

Artist Biography:

Adriana Puppi was born in Pècs, Hungary, where she attended the State Art School. After obtaining her artistic diploma and certificate for carpet and tapestry weaving in 1967, she taught decorative art and weaving. After moving to Italy in 1969, she continued her artistic activity by participating in exhibitions and cultural initiatives and teaching weaving techniques in various courses for both adults and children. Since 1976, she has been exhibiting in solo and group exhibitions, both in Italy and abroad.

During her career, she has always been interested in finding natural materials that could interact with weaving on looms and yarns. She has always searched for all sorts of yarns that she can weave, from hemp to jute threads, to trimmings, to the mix of spool yarns of discarded sweaters (kindly granted by the artisan knitwear of Maranello - MO). She integrated wooden sticks, leaves, shells, and plastic into the weaving phase. Her research is based on a purpose: to bring out the sense of touch. Thanks to weaving, she was able to wander and experiment at 360°.
